My Birthday

By Nate LaClaire

This is my first post after turning 24. I had an awesome day today! I worked in the morning and then when Mom got home from work I just hung out in the kitchen talking with the various family members as they came and went, while searching through dozens of movie reviews to find something to watch tonight. Mom started the pizza. Finally, having no idea what I wanted to watch, Dad and I went to the video store to see what we could find. After choosing Finding Neverland and deciding to get The Haunted Mansion to watch in case we didn’t end up liking the former, we were just about to leave when I spotted Are We There Yet? I put back Neverland and we brought Are We There Yet? home. I don’t know that I made the best decision, but after the first half of the movie was over we actually started enjoying it. 🙂

We ate the truly awesome pizza while watching the movie (after Alissa got home from work). We took a break from the movie at around 9:00 to open gifts, do evening chores, and give the cats their cat tower (see my next post). Then we finished the movie.

The gifts are great! Alissa and Eliza gave me a Music Clip for holding my music books open, a gift card to The Bible Bookstore, and gift certificates to Subway – all of which I will thoroughly enjoy! Mom and Dad gave me a Selah CD and ten violin lessons at Carroll’s Music Center in Lewiston – two additional gifts that I will thoroughly enjoy. I’ve been meaning to take lessons since they gave me the violin for my last birthday, so now I don’t have any excuse. 🙂

Between the two days, I have had an awesome birthday!
