Pilgrim’s Progress was written by John Bunyan on this day in 1678. Animotion Studios has released a very well-made audio drama of the book. Whether you have read the book or not, the audio drama adds life to this beautiful story.

I promised some friends from the library last week that I would give them the recipe for an awesome smoothie that I have been drinking, so I decided to post it to my blog. This is based on the recipe for a smoothie called “The Green Gorilla.”

  • 1/2 package frozen spinach
  • 1 very ripe banana
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 tbsp flax seed
  • 1 peach
  • 1/2 cup water - use more or less depending on desired consistency

Yeah, you read the first ingredient correctly. What’s wrong, not feeling adventurous? Trust me - you’ll love it. I recommend letting the spinach thaw at room temperature for about 10-20 minutes before you try to cut it. You don’t want it to thaw too much, though. Blend the whole thing as much as you want (I thoroughly liquify it) and enjoy!

I don’t taste the spinach at all - what I taste is the fruit. I eat this and only this for lunch 6 days a week. It’s tasty and filling! And, just look at all of the servings of fruits and vegetables that you are getting out of the way in that one meal (I believe it comes out to 3 servings of fruit and 2 of vegetables). Enjoy!

Classical Guitarist Peter Fletcher is coming to Poland on Friday, March 31! His concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Ricker Memorial Library. Space is very limited, so be sure to call the library soon (207-998-4390) to get tickets. I am looking forward to it! The music that I have heard him perform (on CD) is all very nice. I will post more information here (including links to official sources, as available) very soon.

Google announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Measure Map. Measure Map is a neat statistics tool for blogs. It’s exciting news - I am sure that Measure Map will be good for Google and that Google will be good for Measure Map. Personally, I’m still waiting for an invitation to Google Analytics.

I recently commented to a friend that I sometimes feel like I spend my entire life on Google. Until I saw my Google Trends today, though, I didn’t realize how right that statement was.

It appears that I have made over 2000 searches on Google since last May. That doesn’t include all of the searches I have made when I wasn’t logged in to Google. Yikes! I need a life…

Talk about a cool word! This wonderful word, pronounced “ses-kwuh-puh-DAYL-yuhn,” describes words much like itself: long. As an adjective, it means:
1. Given to or characterized by the use of long words.
2. Long and ponderous; having many syllables.

This is according to Dictionary.com, which featured the word as Word of the Day for January 13. The listing is available at:

Now if I can just remember how to spell it, maybe I will be able to use it!
